The PX1500 — Turning Organic Waste into Value at Industrial Scale

The PYREG PX1500 is a robust, modular carbonization unit engineered to transform organic waste streams (woody biomass, sewage sludge, agricultural residues, and much more) into premium, high-quality biochar and clean, usable thermal energy.

In our systems, the feedstock, whether biomass or biosolids, undergoes a continuous, controlled, and oxygen-limited pyrolysis process, where it is gently degassed and transformed into biochar at operating temperatures ranging between 500°C and 750°C.

The PX1500 is the critical solution for any modern, large-scale biochar production plant.

From Single Unit to Full Project Scale

PYREG’s PX1500 is designed to scale. Multiple units can be installed as an integrated system, configured to match the feedstock volume and site requirements of each project — from a single large site to regional aggregation hubs processing tens of thousands of tonnes per year — with custom engineering available for volumes beyond standard configurations.

For Biomass

A PYREG biomass installation can serve operations ranging from a single industrial site with a contained residue stream — such as a sawmill or food processing facility — through to large agro-industrial complexes or regional biomass aggregation hubs processing material from multiple sources.

Typical project capacity (dry biomass)

3’000 – 15’000 t/year

Biochar production

700 – 6’000 t/year

Carbon credits

1’000 – 18’000 tCO₂e/year

Assumes <20% moisture biomass at inlet.

For Biosolids

A PYREG biosolids installation can serve operations ranging from a mid-sized municipal wastewater treatment plant serving a single urban catchment, through to large regional sludge treatment hubs consolidating output from multiple facilities..

Typical project capacity (dry solids)

3’000 – 15’000 t/year

Wet sludge equivalent

12’000 – 60’000 t/year

Population Equivalent served

150’000 – 750’000 PE

Assumes <20% moisture post-drying, 25% dry solids content post-dewatering, and 20 kg dry solids per PE per year.

Projects requiring throughput beyond standard multi-unit configurations can be addressed through custom-engineered solutions – feel free to reach out!.

Engineered for Excellence

Maximize biochar value, guarantee environmental compliance, and secure decades of reliable, low-risk operation.

Precise Process Control for Consistent Biochar Quality

Our proprietary reactor design ensures precise, uniform heating and residence time control. This guarantees a highly stable carbon structure, maximizing carbon sequestration potential and consistently meeting the strictest quality standards.

Pollutant Destruction (PFAS, PAH, dioxins, microplastics)

The PX1500’s advanced control system allows for surgical precision over pyrolysis parameters (temperature, oxygen content). This effectively destroys complex pollutants like PFAS, PAH, PCDD/F, and microplastics, producing an inert, safe-to-handle biochar product.

Industry-Leading Emissions Control

Syngas generated during pyrolysis is combusted in a precisely controlled thermal oxidizer (950 – 1’050°C). Exhaust gas is meticulously filtered through a dedicated system, ensuring emissions (e.g., NOx, CO, sulfur, dust) are significantly below standard regulatory limits as proven by several exhaust stack tests.

High Durability and Long Operational Lifespan

The reactor and critical components are constructed using specialized alloys and premium materials engineered to withstand extreme temperatures and corrosive environments, ensuring high reliability and a long service life.

Renewable Energy Recovery

Our heat recovery modules transform excess energy from the pyrolysis process into customizable, clean energy (Hot Water, Steam, or Electricity) to power your plant or profit from external energy networks.

Hot water (up to 145°C)

Ideal for internal plant use, such as pre-drying the feedstock (reducing operating costs), or for injection into an external district heating network.

Steam (up to 15 barg, up to 200°C)

High-temperature steam can be generated for direct use in adjacent industrial processes, turning the PX1500 into a co-generation asset.

Electricity (up to 50kW)

When coupled to an external ORC module, the recovered heat is converted into electricity, often making the entire pyrolysis plant and its peripherals electricity-neutral or a net electricity exporter.

Continuous-Flow Carbonization: Transforming feedstock into high-quality biochar and usable renewable energy

Note: The dust separator, wet scrubber and activated carbon filter are only required for sewage sludge applications.

Verified Performance – De-Risk Your Investment

Leverage PYREG’s EBC Type Certification and pre-approved status with leading carbon credits registries (Puro.earth, CSI, Isometric) to secure project financing and maximize revenue.

EBC Type Certification

The PYREG technology is EBC-Type Certified. This means our proprietary technology has been rigorously validated to consistently produce biochar that meets the stringent quality and safety criteria set by the European Biochar Certificate (EBC).

This certification significantly de-risks the client’s investment and provides a guaranteed pathway to premium biochar markets across Europe and beyond.

Carbon Credit Ready

The PX1500 is recognized as a pre-approved technology supplier by leading voluntary carbon credit registries, including Puro.earth, CSI, and Isometric.

This guarantees that the biochar produced in a PYREG unit qualifies for immediate Carbon Removal (CDR) credit generation, establishing a crucial, high-value, and reliable revenue stream for your project.
